Clogged gutters do not announce themselves. You find out in the first hard rain of October, when water sheets over the front edge instead of going down the downspout, or in February when a stain appears on the ceiling and nobody can work out where it came from.
Salem Gutter Works handles gutter cleaning in Salem and across the mid-Willamette Valley, along with repairs, seamless gutter installation, gutter guards and roof moss removal. Call (503) 713-6224 for a free estimate. You get a price before any work starts, and the debris leaves with us.
Our gutter services Salem Oregon
Gutter Cleaning. Hand clearing, not just a blower. Debris comes out, downspouts get flushed, and we check that water actually moves.
Gutter Repair. Sagging runs, leaking seams, pulled hangers and the wrong pitch. Most gutters get replaced when they only needed fixing.
Gutter Installation and Replacement. Seamless aluminum rolled on site, so the only joints are at the corners.
Gutter Guards. Worth it on some houses and a waste of money on others. We will tell you which one yours is.
Roof Cleaning and Moss Removal. The valley grows moss on north-facing roofs, and it ends up in the gutters. Treating the roof is half of keeping gutters clear.

When gutters fail in the Willamette Valley
Our rain does not arrive gently. It builds through October, runs hard from November into March, and the gutters that were fine all summer are the ones that fail first.
September and October. Big-leaf maple and ash drop first, and they drop heavily. This is the window where a cleaning actually prevents something, rather than dealing with damage that already happened.
November and December. Douglas fir needles work into the low spots and pack down into a mat that water sits on. Fir needles are worse than leaves because they do not wash through, they knit together.
January and February. Freezing nights on a full gutter add weight the hangers were never rated for. This is when sagging runs pull away from the fascia. If a gutter is going to come off a house, it comes off now.
March through May. Seed pods, catkins and the first moss growth. A gutter cleared in autumn often needs a second look in spring.
Summer. The quiet months, and the right time for installation, guard fitting and roof moss treatment, because the work is easier dry.
Most Salem homes need two cleanings a year. A house under firs or big maples usually needs three.
What gutter work costs in Salem
| Job | Typical range in Salem |
|---|---|
| Gutter cleaning, single story | $150 to $250 |
| Gutter cleaning, two story | $200 to $350 |
| Gutter cleaning, three story or steep access | $300 to $450 |
| Gutter repair visit | $150 to $450 |
| Seamless gutter installation, typical house | $1,400 to $3,200 |
| Gutter guards, typical house | $900 to $4,000 |
| Roof moss removal | $200 to $1,000 |
These are typical Salem-area ranges, not a quote. Two houses with the same footage can be far apart on price, because a single story ranch with clear access and a two story with a steep roof and a fenced side yard are not the same job at all. Call (503) 713-6224, or send a photo to salemgutterworks@gmail.com, and we will give you a written price for your house, free, with no obligation.
What moves the price: how many stories, whether a ladder can be set safely on all sides, how much debris is in there, whether guards have to come off and go back on, and how many downspouts need flushing.
What happens when you call
- You call or send photos. Tell us how many stories, roughly how old the gutters are, and what they are doing.
- We come look. Most estimates take fifteen minutes and cost nothing.
- You get a written price. If you accept, we schedule the work.
Debris is bagged and leaves with the crew. Downspouts get flushed and tested before anyone drives off.
Common questions
How often should gutters be cleaned in Salem?
Twice a year suits most Salem homes, once in late autumn after the leaves are down and once in spring. Under Douglas fir or big-leaf maple, three times is more realistic, because fir needles keep falling long after the deciduous trees have finished.
Do you haul the debris away?
Yes. It gets bagged and goes with us. We do not leave piles on the lawn or dump it in the flower beds, which is a common complaint about cheaper crews.
Are the crews insured?
Ask before anyone goes up a ladder, and get the answer in writing. Never let someone work at height on your house without confirming liability coverage first. Ask for the contractor’s Oregon CCB number and a current certificate of insurance, and check the CCB number yourself at the state’s license lookup. Any legitimate outfit will hand both over without hesitation.
Can you just blow them out?
We can, and on a dry roof with light needle fall it is fine. But a blower moves the loose material and leaves the packed sludge in the low spots, which is the part that actually blocks water. On most houses we clear by hand and flush after.
